Single Review | Gnarkats | 'Dreamers'
Belfast alt-rock trio Gnarkats have added to their impressive arsenal of alt-pop with the grunge-kissed new single 'Dreamers'.
Leaning heavily on guitarist Jordan Evan's ASIWYFA inspired riffs, 'Dreamers', the title track from Gnarkats first EP in 4 years, takes the dancier elements of the aforementioned North Coast heroes and throws a head banging, sing along chorus in for good measure.
Like much of their output up til now, it's frighteningly catchy; Frontman Lewis Nelson has a habit of writing melodies that get stuck in your head and the enthusiasm on display is infectious. The manifesto is simple, make it loud and get the crowd moving. Job done.
If Gnarkats can get the balance right (as they did on the 'Waves Collide' EP), their debut record could be an explosive affair. A band as well versed in writing pop-gems, as they are epic closers ('Sorry'), the momentum they are building is going places. Where that will be exactly, time will tell.
